The girls love having their little cousin over. He is getting so big and really enjoys interacting with them now. Here they were showing him the 2 person parachute. They all had so much fun with it, plus it was a great gross motor skills workout for the girls!

stART ~ If You Give a Pig a Party
Welcome to stART! I am sorry I didn’t post last week, but we were all recovering from a horrible stomach virus and then preparing for Emily’s 5th Birthday Party. We are back and I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order. I have also included a list of all the blogs that participate in stART.
This week we have been reading If You Give A Pig A Party, by Laura Numeroff. The girls love all of the books in the “If You Give A…” series by Laura Numeroff. This one was especially perfect since we have been busy celebrating Emily’s 5th (Oh my goodness how is she 5 already!!) birthday. The story line is simple but very cute, it tells about all the funny things that happen if you give a party for a pig. The book kept both Emily and Juliette engaged in the story and is also wonderful for teaching cause and effect.
For this story we thought it would be fun to make a big and since we had some pink balloons leftover from Emily’s Party we used them, the girls were so excited to do some crafting with a balloon! It is always fun to see how they react to new or different craft/art supplies :)
I drew the shapes for the pig on pink construction paper and the girls cut them out.
Then they colored them and added details with crayons.
Next, they taped the ears and snout on to the pink balloon.
Finally, and I think their favorite part was using the black marker to make the eyes and mouth.

Happy 5th Birthday Emily!!
I can hardly believe that my baby girl is turning 5, as she would say “Mommy I am a whole hand!!!”
I saw the idea to decorate your child’s door for their birthday and knew right away that Emily would absolutely LOVE waking up to this!
I made this Happy Birthday sign and included 5 things that we love about her. She was so excited to hear them and I think it really made her birthday extra special this year.
We went to Friendly’s for a special birthday dinner and Emily picked the make your own sundae, her favorite part was having the waiter and waitresses sing “Happy Birthday” to her.
Happy 5th Birthday Emily!!
I can’t believe how big you are it seems like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms for the very first time. We love you so much and are so proud of the amazing little girl you have become.

This week Emily read Love Bugs, by David Carter at school. We have enjoyed some of his other pop-up books together and this one was just as cute. The intricate pop-up pages really captivate the girls’ attention and the rhyming text is fun to read. Although it is only 5 pages long it is a fun book to enjoy together for Valentines Day.
Emily made this cute “Love Bug” to go along with the story.
To make the love bug she colored in the face and used a heart shaped rubber stamp to make spots on the body. Then she glued the pieces together. The body is a large heart made out of construction paper. The legs and antennas are black construction paper strips and they used heart punches on the cheeks, feet and antenna. Her favorite part was putting spots on the love bug with the heart shaped rubber stamps!
A few years ago we also made these cute Love Bug Valentines to give out to her friends. I thought of it as soon as I saw this book :0)

Sticker Club
Juliette received her sticker club invitation in the mail today!!! She was so excited to get her own mail, and even better in about 6 weeks she will hopefully be getting even more mail and about 36 packs of stickers too. Mail and stickers are definitely a few of Juliette’s (possibly most children’s) favorite things!
But, she needs your help I have to send the invitation to 6 people that are willing to participate. If you would like to be part of this fun project just contact me at KME0310@yahoo.com with your address and I will get a letter out to your little one right away.
All this requires from you is 1 pack of stickers and 7 stamps!

Product Review: Blok Squad Construction Unit Mission by Mega Bloks
When I was contacted by Team Mom to review a Mega Bloks building set I knew right away that the girls would love the Construction Mission!
Our Blok Squad Construction Mission set arrived and we got right to work building it. This set contains 218 pieces that creat two vehicles and figures including a 4x4 and Front Loader.
We used the great directions with easy to follow pictures to see what pieces we needed and where they should go. I worked on the construction vehicles and the girls helped me find the pieces. This set is intended for children ages 5 and older, but with supervision my girls (almost 5 and 2 1/2 had fun with it).
Emily and Juliette found the pieces for the construction workers and put them together all by themselves. They had fun walking them around and making them go into the vehicles when I was finished putting them together.
I really liked that these sets introduce kids to everyday heroes. They are available with themes such as fire patrol, police as well as construction. They also let them use their imaginations for hours of open-ended play. I think they would love them in our sand table.
You can find this set along with the other themed Blok Squad sets at Toys “R” Us, Walmart and amazon.com
Also be sure to check out the Mega Bloks Family Club for product information, on-line games and activities.
Disclaimer: Thank you to Team Mom and Mega Bloks for providing us with this Blok Squad Construction Unit Mission Set free of charge to facilitate my review. This review is 100% my own opinion of this building set and was not influenced in any way by the company.

stART ~ Groundhog Stays up Late

This week we read Groundhog Stays Up Late, by Margery Cuyler. We read this book last year too, I think that this is such a cute story. The little groundhog does not want to sleep through winter and instead decides to play. Soon he realizes that it is not fun alone and tricks his friends into thinking it is spring so they will wake up early. Emily actually made the project to go along with this book at school, but loved using it as we were reading the book.
To make this puppet all you need is a Styrofoam cup, a green party streamer, a popsicle stick and a picture of a groundhog (or you/your child can draw their own)
Color the cup with a brown crayon, glue the green party streamer around the top of the cup, then snip the part that hangs over to look like grass.
Color and cut the groundhog and glue it onto the craft stick. Poke the craft stick through the bottom of the cup then push it up and down.
Emily took her puppet outside to see if he would see his shadow, then when he did she pulled him into the cup and said six more weeks of winter!!
We also sand a cute song to go along with our puppet. Emily loved the Mr. Groundhog song when she was little. Click here to see video of her singing it when she was little.
Happy Groundhog’s Day!!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Tumbling
Forward Flip over the bar
We were able to stay and watch Emily’s Tumbling class, it was so much fun to see all the things she talks about doing in class each week. She can’t wait for the next semester to begin!!
