Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order. I have also included a list of all the blogs that participate in stART. **This is a work in progress so if you have participated at least 3 times and would like to be added to the list, leave me a comment and let me know :0)
This week we enjoyed reading Count Down to Fall, by Fran Hawk. The girls are starting to notice all the changes in nature as Fall has arrived. They love pointing out the leaves that are changing color and the acorns they find on the ground. This book counts down many popular fall items with a fun to read rhyming text. I love all of the details in the illustrations. There is so much to talk about on each page. Emily likes to know the names of certain flowers and trees. So this book was great for teaching her the names of the different types of leaves that we are finding on the ground.
When I saw the idea for this project on Superheroes and Princesses I knew it would go perfectly with this book.
For this project I cut out a maple leaf shape and an oak leaf shape on diffuser paper. Then I used my hot glue gun to make the veins on the leaves. Then I gave them to the girls to paint with red, orange and yellow liquid watercolors.
Emily and Juliette painting their fall leaves.
They had so much fun painting the leaves that I wished that I had made more of them to paint!
They look so pretty on our Sliding Glass Door, just like falling leaves!
Now it is your turn!! Click below to link up a book you read and the project or activity that you did to go with it.
Your leaves look beautiful! My link this week is a post that highlights several of the fun things we did last year. There's not a book in the post, but all but one of the projects I liked to has a fun book to go along with the project. Hope that's okay. :) Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty. I have yet to find diffuser paper at a store.
ReplyDeleteI love your leaves! I've never heard of diffuser paper. Do you think using coffee filters would work to do this project?
ReplyDeleteThey did turn out lovely!
ReplyDeleteThose really do look beautiful on the doors!
