Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order. I have also included a list of all the blogs that participate in stART. **This is a work in progress so if you have participated and would like to be added to the list, leave me a comment and let me know :0)
This week we read Corduroy's Halloween, by B. G. Hennessy. This is a cute lift the flap book that tells the story of how a little bear named Corduroy prepares to celebrate Halloween. Emily and Juliette love looking under the flaps to see the fun surprises underneath while we are reading the story.
Both Emily and Juliette liked the Jack-o-Lanterns that are in the story so we made our own out of paper. To make them a little more special we made them sun-catcher Jack-o-lanterns.
I cut a pumpkin shape out of card stock paper and the girls picked which way they wanted to hold it so they could have a tall skinny pumpkin or a short squatty one. Next, Emily had fun drawing a face on hers. Then I cut it out with an Exacto knife type of a cutter. For Juliette I drew the face and cut it out.
Then they painted their pumpkins.
After they dried they glued yellow tissue paper to the back of the pumpkin over the holes for the eyes, mouth and nose. Emily was determined to cover her entire back with tissue paper.
Finally they glued on the stem, leaf that was cut out of construction paper and the vine which is a piece of pipe cleaner.
Emily’s Jack-o-Lantern
Juliette’s Jack-o-Lantern
I love how when the sun is shining it really lights up the Jack-o-Lanterns face!!
Now it is your turn!! Click below to link up a book you read and the project or activity that you did to go with it.

I love how the sun shines through the yellow tissue paper too. What a perfect craft for Halloween.
Those are cute and I bet they really light up your house :)
We love Corduroy around here! My two would love that craft. I think I'll surprise them with it when they get home from school today. Thanks!
