Emily and Juliette were very excited to pick the first Zucchini from our garden this year! This is the first thing that was ready to be picked this year and we are very proud of it…in fact both girls wanted a picture with it. Last year we didn’t get any Zucchinis and this year we moved them to a different spot and they did so much better. ..we couldn’t be happier :0)

Summer Fun List ~ Watch a Movie Outside
We added Watch a Movie Outside to our summer fun list while we were writing it down together. Uncle Scott has a huge blow up screen and projector so we were able to watch Max and Ruby Under the Stars on the big screen!
We invited some family and friends to enjoy some ice cream sundaes and then watch Max and Ruby Under the Stars!First we had to get it set up. Daddy and Uncle Scott worked together to get it set up.
Look how big it is next to our swing set!! While we were waiting for it to get dark we had ice cream cone sundaes. They enjoyed these very much. Finally it was dark enough to begin the show. All the kids loved seeing Max and Ruby at night outside on the big screen.
We can’t wait to do this again, it was a great time and a beautiful night!

This past week we finally had a chance to enjoy a Muffin Tin Monday meal. We have been so busy that we keep missing it. But I decided to surprise the girls with a special lunch of some of their favorite foods!
The Girls had:
Hot Dogs, Yogurt, Cucumbers and Tomatoes with Ranch Dressing for dipping and a Munchkin for dessert
They were both very happy with the Muffin Tin Surprise!
btw – Juliette IS dipping her hot dog in her yogurt :0)

Summer Fun List ~ Outdoor Oobleck
We are having so much fun completing the activities on our Summer Fun List. I was watching my nephew and he read over our list and said he really wanted to do Outdoor Oobleck with us and that is just what we did.
I originally intended on filling a small baby pool with Oobleck, but I was really not sure how much cornstarch I would need to do that, I got five boxes and figured we could see how much that would make. Once I got the boxes home I realized that we would need a smaller container for the Oobleck than I thought. I was happy to find this under the bed storage bin in the shed which worked really well. It probably could have used a few more boxes, but now we know for next time!
I dumped all 5 boxes into the bin and then added about 2 small buckets of water. The recipe is 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part water. We also added green food coloring which left all of our hands a lovely tinge of green :0)
Outdoor Oobleck Fun!!!
The kids wore their bathing suits so that they could play in the Oobleck and then rinse it off in the pool.
I hope to do this again with a few more boxes of cornstarch since we discovered that Oobleck is very relaxing for adults to play with too!

Science Fun ~ Mysteriously Inflating Balloon Experiment
When I saw this experiment on The Artful Parent I knew that I wanted to try it with Emily and Juliette. They both love balloons and I thought that this would be a fun way to see them getting inflated. I made a few changes to how the experiment went based on the comments to Jean’s post.
First, I got everything ready…all I would show them was the balloon. They were all so excited to see what would happen. I filled the water bottle with about 3 tablespoons of vinegar and then I used a funnel to fill the balloon with about 1 tablespoon of baking soda. I put the balloon on top of the bottle being careful not to let the baking soda mix with the vinegar.
After each child had their balloon set up I counted to 3 and let them hold up the balloon so that the baking soda would mix with the vinegar.
Very quickly the gas that was produced when the vinegar and baking soda mixed filled up the balloon.
It was funny to see the different shapes that it made!
Juliette’s balloon got the largest out of the three. They all wanted to try it again, but we were out of balloons. I guess we will have to add them to our shopping list and try it again. It was definitely a lot of fun!

stART ~ Beach Bugs
Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
This week we read Beach Bugs, by David A. Carter. This is a really cute pop up book that shows many of the fun things that you can do while at the beach. Emily and Juliette’s favorite page is the one with all of the fireflies that actually light up.
To go along with this book Emily made her own sand castle out of sand paper. I cut out some different castle shapes and gave them to Emily to glue on however she wanted. Then I also provided crayons, buttons, glue and actual sand to decorate the castles with.
Emily decided that she wanted to cut the door in half and glue the sides so that it could open up. I was so proud of her for coming up with that all on her own. I love to see her using her creativity!!
Emily was very excited to be able to use one of her Ariel stickers to add to the picture too.

Summer Fun List ~ Water Balloons
We were able to cross water balloons off of our Summer Fun List!!
The kids and grownups had so much fun getting wet and keeping cool on a warm summer day by tossing water balloons around.
Daddy, Aunt Jennifer and Mommy filled up lots and lots of water balloons, with the help of the kids too. We were actually able to fill their blue step 2 sink up to the top.
On the run with a full water balloon!
Emily and our neighbor tossed the balloons to each other waiting to see who it would soak.
My favorite picture from the day was Emily’s Cousin trying to break a water balloon over her head :0)

Happy Second Birthday Juliette
Wow, I can’t believe that Juliette is already 2!! It seems like just yesterday that I announcing her birth. And now look at what a big girl she is.
Juliette is my sweet little crazy girl. She is in to everything and I never know where I will find her. She definitely has a mind of her own and a strong will to go with that. But she can also be so mushy and lovable. I am constantly amazed at all the things she is able to do. She can talk up a storm, put on her shoes, count to 11, climb into/on top of just about anything. Juliette loves to read books, play with trains and do puzzles. She could spend the whole day outside in the backyard swinging on the swings or going up and down the slide. She is a little fish that loves to be in the water and doesn’t mind getting her face wet. Juliette loves her friends and family and is always asking to go to Anna’s house or Grandpa’s house.
Every morning when she wakes up she screams/cries for me and when I come into her room she says “Good Morning” with a cute little grin. Then the next question is “Where is Emily?” and “Is Daddy home?”
The list could go on and on, but I still can’t believe what a big girl she is already and I can’t wait to see what new and amazing adventures we will have this year!
Happy Birthday Juliette!!!

Fireworks In the Park!!
We went to Eisenhower Park to watch our towns largest Fireworks Display this Fourth of July. I LOVE fireworks and was so excited to be able to see them with Michael and the girls up close this year. I actually love them so much that Michael and I were engaged on the 4th of July at the Fireworks Show that used to be held at Jones Beach nine years ago!!
Anyway we got to the park early to get a good spot. It was CROWDED, but we found a nice spot to set up our blankets and have our dinner and wait for the show.
Uncle Jonathan, Aunt Jayme and Brianna joined us, we were both here in different spots and met up once we realized we were both at the park!!
The girls dancing to the Bon Jovi band that was playing before the Fireworks.
Our Family waiting for it get get dark so we can enjoy the show.
There faces say it all… …it was AMAZING!!
We had such a great night, I can’t wait to go back again next year!!
