Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
This week we read Fidgety Fish, by Ruth Galloway. Emily LOVES this book and asks for it all of the time. It is a cute story about a little fish, Tiddler that just can’t stop moving. His mother tells him to go out into the sea and use up all of his energy, but to stay away from the big fish. Tiddler swims all around and sees all the different things in the ocean, jellyfish, starfish, and a great big “cave” to explore. He swims right in and finds himself trapped in the belly of the big fish. Just wait and see how he gets out!!
To go along with this book Emily drew a ocean scene on a piece of water color paper with oil pastels and then painted over the whole picture with blue liquid watercolor paint.
I didn’t get any pictures of her working on this project since I was so busy watching her and talking about her picture, I totally forgot to take a picture of her working. I can’t believe how much her confidence in drawing has improved. She drew everything in this picture all by herself. It is one of my favorite pieces of her art yet!

Great picture! Emily did an awesome job. We haven't read that book yet--we'll have to check it out.
Great job Emily on the picture! Beautiful!
Going to check out the book too!
Thanks!
Kerri
Your time was probably better spent being in the moment with Emily, than photographing it! Her picture is great :)
It is a very good drawing. I really like the red creature. Is it a lobster?
Love it! What a fun book for my figety daughter! I've never seen it before, but we've got it on hold at the library now ;)Thanks for the idea!
So happy to join your link party this week -- enjoying all the fun posts here!
Cute picture! I saw a great recipe for making bear in a cave cupcakes- by "burying" a teddy graham in a chocolate cupcake. It would be cute to do that with the fish for this book. I wonder what you could use, though, a goldfish wouldn't taste too good. We love a good fish tale around here so we'll have to check for that one!
Michelle? Did you get my mail?
We did it...and I loved how they turned out!!! I'm bummed that I couldn't find this cute little book...but we did find Fidgety Fish and Friends instead. I posted on my blog and linked to you :)
