Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
This week we all really enjoyed reading Shoes for Me!, by Sue Fliess. This is a cute book about a little Hippo who is on the quest for the perfect pair of shoes. The playful rhyming text is fun to read and since both Emily and Juliette LOVE shoes they especially enjoyed hearing about all the different shoes in this book. Shoes for Me! was the perfect book to get us excited to hunt for the perfect pair of shoes this weekend!
For our project I thought it would be fun for Emily to decorate her own pair of shoes. She agreed and decided she wanted to make flip flops.
I cut out a pair out of craft foam and Emily set to work coloring them with markers and decorate them with sequins and spangles.
To finish them off I used hot glue to glue on the straps. Emily’s Finished Flip Flops.
Now hopefully we will have as much fun on our Shoe Hunt this weekend!
These a too cute! Now, can she actually wear them around the house? They remind me a lot of these "Cereal Box Sandals" I saw over at Family Fun...

Adorable! Looks like a fun book! we need to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love that she actually made a pair of shoes. How fun! My baby, who really isn't much of a talker, loves the word shoes-- and he loves shoes! I 'll have to find this book and see if he likes looking at all the shoes.
ReplyDeleteThose are some pretty flashy flip-flops! My daughter loves shoes, too, and the more sparkles the better.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those Flip Flops look fantastic! Nothing like a bit of bling!
ReplyDeleteI love all the details. This is great idea. I read a book about shoes with JDaniel too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those flip flops...how cute!
ReplyDeleteFlip flops are so cute and turned out so well. Thanks for sharing.
