Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
This week we have been enjoying reading The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein. This is a classic story about a tree and a little boy. Emily loves reading this book and was very excited to make her own giving tree.
First I traced her hand and arm onto a piece of blue paper.
Emily and Juliette painted their traced hand and arms with brown paint to make the trunk and branches of the tree. Finally, they glued on green tissue paper for the leaves and heart construction paper punches for the apples.
Ours didn't turn out to be exactly an art project this week...but it was definitely hands-on taking books to a deeper level. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThe apple hearts are a nice, colorful touch.
ReplyDeleteI love that you did this book - such a great one. I think it's probably been so long since I've read it to my kids they won't remember it - so I need to get it out.
ReplyDeleteLet me just say, I do believe that Emily could DEFINITELY out paint me in the tree department...
ReplyDeleteThe project looks lovely, but I seriously dislike the book. So depressing!
ReplyDeleteI like this art project!
ReplyDeleteI sure love reading about the books that are featured as well as the art projects that go along with them. It is alwasy fun to visit every week.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
