Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week. Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!
Check out the stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects. All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
This week I took our large collection of Christmas books out and we have been enjoying reading them together. Both Emily and Juliette liked lifting the flaps in Peek-a-Boo Christmas!, by Marie Torres Cimarusti. This is the same author as Peek-a-Moo! one of our favorite story time lift the flap books. In this fun Christmas book you have to guess which Christmas character is hiding behind each flap. At the end Emily asked where the angle was. I said there was not one in this book but we could make our own Peek-a-boo Angel. So that is what we did for our project.
Emily said she wanted a pink Angel so I cut one large triangle and 2 smaller ones out of pink construction paper for the body and 2 arms. Then I cut a large circle and 2 smaller ones out of white for the head and hands and finally a yellow oval for the halo.
Emily glued the Angel together leaving the ends of the arms un-glued.
She added a face with a marker. When she was all finished she decided that her Angel needed legs too.
She folded the arms up over the face…
… to play Peek-a-Boo with her Angel.

I can tell this book is really fun to read. It is a really cool thing when kids learn to make the craft their own, love the pink angel.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cute craft!
ReplyDeleteI have to see if I can find this book. Emily's angel turned out so cute.
ReplyDeleteI love her angel.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Great work Emily. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what an AWESOMELY WONDERFUL idea! I think I am going to "steal" it from you and use it with my Sunday School kiddos as an ornament...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration!
I love this project - how neat that it was so self-directed. We read this book last year - Anna still enjoys flap books even though technically she is a bit too old for them :)
ReplyDeleteShe did a great job with the face! Great craft. :)
ReplyDeleteA little late to the party today - I've had an awful cold! Thanks as always for hosting and being an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love that she made such a interactive craft. I will have to look for the book.
ReplyDeleteGreat legs - very cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute and clever craft!
ReplyDeleteI love the pink angel!! And her little angel legs too!! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, we are throwing a huge (hopefully it will become ;) linky for Christmas with toddlers. And guess what? Book department has lowest entries! :( Could you add? I know you love to read at your home ;)
ReplyDeleteLinky is at: http://best-toys-for-toddler.blogspot.com/2010/11/toddlers-magic-christmas-idea-bank.html and we have couple linkies not single one like usualy.
What a beautiful Angel she made!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Michelle!
ReplyDeleteSweet and adorable as always Michelle!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!
