We have been promising Emily that we would make homemade ice cream since the beginning of the summer, but have not had a chance until now!! We used a very simple recipe but it was still delicious. It tasted more like frozen fresh whipped cream so we decided we needed to try some other recipes too.
Simple Vanilla Ice Cream
You will need:
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
1-2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups heavy cream
Pour 1 cup milk and 3/4 sugar into a bowl
Mix with a mixer on low speed until sugar is dissolved in the milk.
Add the vanilla
and 2 cups of heavy cream
Mix to combine
Pour mixture into prepared ice cream maker.

Wait for the ice cream maker to work its magic. It took ours about 25 minutes.
Keep checking to see if it looks like ice cream yet.
Serve up your yummy ice cream.
We have a very fun soft serve with mix ins ice cream maker. My Mother-in-law gave it to us for Christmas before Emily was born. Sadly I have only used it a few times before this. But, now I think we are all hooked. We are already trying to decide which flavor we will create next!!
Emily couldn’t have been happier!!

So fun!!! What a yummy treat :)
How fun! We used to love using our ice cream maker (pre- dairy allergy). I did find that anything with a different flavoring was better than just vanilla. My favorite was mint chocolate chip. :)
Fun! We have "make homemade ice cream" on our summer bucket list and I am hoping to do it this week, but we don't have an ice cream maker. We are going to use the ziploc bag method. I'm thinking an ice cream maker will be on our Christmas wish list!
Fun! My mom just got that exact same ice cream maker, it's awesome! We found some fun mix-ins on clearance even :) Now I just have to see if she'll let us borrow it ;)
yum! I need to make up a batch of this sometime real soon! :-)
yummy! i didn't know they had ice cream machines like that.
How fabulous! I keep thinking an ice cream maker would get a lot of use but we are out of room already. Maybe I will have Audrey help me make the recipe and take it to a neighbor's for freezing.
