Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures so that everyone can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week.
I added a stART tab in my navigation bar to make it easier to search for past stART projects. Be sure to check it out!! All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
Recently, Emily has requested that we read Little People, Cars, Trucks, Planes and Trains, by Readers Digest just about every night. She loves looking at and finding things in the pictures and of course opening all of the flaps!
To go along with this book we did some “sculpture” with a set of Krinkles Blocks that were tucked away in the closet since Christmas. Emily loved helping me build different vehicles with the pieces in this set. I was so excited with how much she enjoyed creating with these blocks. I started the base of the car for her and she added the rest
She was very proud of the race car we built together!!

those bristle blocks are so fun! my oldest loved little people when she was younger. :)
My sons used to love the little people books. I forgot about them. I'll have to look for ours and see if Reagan likes them.
Those flap books are a BIG hit around here too, we have that title plus several more in the series. I thought that now she's older it might be time to put them away but when I went to she rediscovered them. I think she gets even more out of them now that she observes more detail in the pictures and it's so funny to listen to her describe them.
awww love the cars she made!
Great she enjoyed the stickle bricks so much! And the books sounds lovely too! Bet Red Ted would love all the flaps too!
No doubt, the Little People lift-the-flap books do keep kids entertained for quite a while. Your Krinkles Blocks do look like a fun building block set...that must be a racecar with the big rear spoiler!
I just love Emily's hair, so beautiful. Wish my M's hair would start growing! Will see if I can find the book, looks awesome!
Can it get any better than a lift the flap book and bristle blocks? She did a great job!
We used to have those blocks in our church nursery - the kids love them!
We have the citrus color version of those blocks. But I like the colors you have because they are just like the ones I had when I was little. We called them "bristle blocks," though.
Oh KRIKLE BLOCKS! I had some of these as a kid! How FUN!!!
(P.S. I am taking "stART" to camp with me next week...thank you for all your inspiration! I'm sure my 5th and 6th grade girls will LOVE it!)
Nathan Loves those blocks too (he also got his set at Christmas)....Great Race Car!!

Using blocks to create sculptures is a neat idea for activities to complement a book.
I might start buying those blocks and fun activities for my son. Great article! Thanks for sharing
Great tie in to the book!
