Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures so that everyone can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week.
I added a stART tab in my navigation bar to make it easier to search for past stART projects. Be sure to check it out!! All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.
This week we read A House for Hermit Crab, by Eric Carle. I remember reading this story with the first graders as we prepared them for the new adventures that second grade would bring. Emily enjoyed seeing all of the different see creatures that helped make the hermit crabs shell special.
After reading this book I knew Emily would love to to decorate her own hermit crab and shell so I gave her this template for the hermit crab and shell, markers, glue, sequins and tissue paper and let her go to work. She knew exactly what she wanted to do and only wanted my help in opening the glue bottle!
After Emily finished decorating her hermit crab and shell I cut it out and glued it onto a piece of blue construction paper and sand paper.
that turned out cute love all the sequins

ReplyDeleteIn a quick moment of flexibility after being buddied up with the first grade class across the hall from me, we googled for a printable hermit crab & did this activity with my kindergarteners and her first graders together. They all loved it. Thanks for sharing so many great story activities! :)
