stART ~ Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy

Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too! The linky will be open all week.

Danny the DragonThis week we read Danny The Dragon Meets Jimmy, by Tina Turbin.  We were fortunate enough to receive this book from the author to do a book review.   This is a cute story about a dragon and his little side kick Skipper.   He meets a little boy and has a ton of fun hanging out with his family.   We also received a copy of the audio book DREAMS which had a reading of the story and then some beautifully composed classical pieces.

For Emily’s project this week I thought it would be fun to do some water color painting while listening to the classical songs on the DREAMS cd that went along with the Danny the Dragon Book.  Emily loved painting while listening to the music and I can’t wait to try this again!!

  4. You know I've seen this activity (painting while listening to classical music) recommended so many times, why haven't I done it yet? Really?

  6. She IS a good painter, especially if you don't have to cover the table before she gets to work!

  8. This sounds like a book that my children will enjoy. I have meant to have the kids paint while listening to music too. I just keep forgetting.

  11. Love the masterpiece. Where did you find water colors that produce vibrant colors? Ours only manage barely visible blobs.

  12. She received these as a gift and really enjoyed painting with it. I gave her a bigger brush that I already had in our brush collection which I think really helped. Here is the link to the set we have

I am hoping to test out some other brands since Emily is really enjoying watercolors. I will let you know how they go :0)

  17. What a beautiful picture of Emily and her gorgeous artwork. Sometimes we draw while listening to music. When the music gets louder, or faster, Savvy will say "crazy drawing" and do big swirls and a chaotic style of drawing. When the music is mellow and slow, Savvy will draw long up and down strokes slooowly.
