Some Cereal over the Rainbow

IMG_2138

I got a really great deal on a box of fruit loops last week and couldn’t wait to get started on this project.  Emily loves sorting and gluing so I knew she would enjoy this.  It was also the perfect activity to keep two energetic 3 year olds occupied for a nice amount of time while having fun, snacking and working on their fine motor skills, not to mention having an totally awesome project once they were all done!!

First, Emily and her cousin sorted their fruit loops into a muffin tin.IMG_2122

Next, they glued the fruit loops onto the rainbow pattern that I printed and color coded for them.IMG_2123Juliette and Daddy got to help out too!

(I think my nephew is thinking, “Enough with the pictures already Aunt Michelle!!!”)IMG_2130

Finally, they glued some mini marshmallows to a cloud shape that I added under the rainbow. IMG_2131 They both got to snack on the extras!!

My kids love to make fruit loops rainbows too. Sometimes we use Fruity Cheerios. Fun! I never thought to use mini marshmallows for clouds though - I'll do that next time! Cute!

what a fun idea! Thanks for reminding me that you had done the "Ten Apples Up On Top" project. I knew I had seen a similar one but couldn't remember where! I edited my post to give you credit! :)

I did a couple fun activities with fruit loops with my Emily. She loved that she got to eat them afterward.

: ) Wasn't that a great deal at Publix! We are doing a similar activity for tot school. Little sweets is too little to glue on a rainbow so we are just making a color collage.

Hi Michelle,
I have seen this craft before, but you made it stand out with the marshmallow "clouds" and by color coding it with the rainbow pattern for the kids to follow...fabulous! That really enables a child to "self check" their work, too and prevents them from becoming confused when working with so many colors in sequence--great idea!
