Emily's Pebble Mosaic
This month's Open Ended Art theme is Mosaics. I am looking forward to seeing Emily use all the different materials to create her Mosaics.
This weeks material is pebbles. I found a bag of colored pebbles at A.C. Moore and thought it would be perfect for Emily to create some kind of design with. When I decided I really wanted her to do the mosaic with Plaster of Paris I packed up both girls and headed to Michaels. While we were there I found a trinket box with a lip around the top...it was perfect for this project!
To start we sorted the colors, since Emily enjoys it and it is also great practice!
I filled the top of the lid with plaster of paris and Emily added the colored pebbles to it.
I loved this picture of Emily working and Juliette watching in the swing!
She found every last spot to fill up all by herself!

I really thought she would be asking me to finish it...what a nice surprise!!!!
Here is her finished Mosaic...not bad for a 2 1/2 year old!!

My goodness, it is really beautiful!
OMG, this turned out so nice! I really need to try this plaster of Paris one of those days. And Emily can clearly stay on the task - I always like her serious expression in your photos when she works on her projects.
What a great idea! It looks like she had fun!
Looks great! What a fun project!
That is so beautiful, and I am so impressed by her patience in finishing the whole thing! It looks like she had so much fun.
That is beautiful! I wish I had thought to do something like that. I love it.
That is AWESOME!
This is gorgeous! What a great idea too, to have her sort them by color before beginning. I really love what you did with this!
I love your project:) I have a 24 month old and 1 month old and was not brave enough to pack both kids into the car to go hunting for art supplies; hence the marbles in playdough mosaic my 2 year old did. Your LO seems like she really liked doing this. Such concentration:)
I'll say. :) I love the coloured stones they look great against the white plaster.
Oooo, I really like this!
This turned out so beautiful.
