stART!!!

A Story + Art = A Great stART!!

We love reading all different kinds of books and doing projects in our house. A lot of the time we are inspired to do our projects based on a book that we have enjoyed. I thought it would be fun to share some of the books we are reading and the art projects that we do with them.
Each Thursday I will post my "stART" project and if you have a book related art project that you did during the week I would love it if you joined us and linked up!

If you would like to participate:
  • Read a book with your child
  • Do an art project to go with your book
  • Post about it and add a link back to A Mommy's Adventures
  • Leave a link to your post on the MckLinky

I hope we will all be able to share some great books as well as some fun art projects to go along with them!

  6. Super idea! We love to read books and do projects based on the books, although I don't know that I would always consider our projects to be "art". I am looking forward to seeing more of your stART projects!

  7. I have loved seeing these around my friends' blogs. We did Humpty Dumpty today...I'm assuming a nursery rhyme kind of equals a story. :) As long as my camera works tomorrow, I hope to post!

Thanks for a great idea, clever name, and fun stuff!

  10. Hello,

Just about all my blog posts might count as stART posts - sometimes we read a book and get inspired, othertimes we do something crafty and look for a book that fits well with what we've enjoyed doing:
    Playing by the book

I'm *really* looking forward to seeing and reading about other stART projects :-) And of course, I'd love to see you over at Playing by the book too.

  11. Love this! Great job! When my girls were younger we did this a lot! I also taught it in a school system. We homeschool now. My two fav books to do this with are "Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs" and "Go Away Big Green Monster". @susieqtpies

  12. I love this!!! I do this a lot through the Blissfully Domestic website (twice a month), as well as on my own blog.

I just posted one on the Polar Express: http://blissfullydomestic.com/2009/fun-with-books-the-polar-express Although, this is more of an interactive activity than an art project!

As a former teacher, as well, I think it's a great resource for moms to expand the learning and keep their kids excited about reading! I'll definitely be checking back to see all your great ideas!

    Thanx!

    Angee :)

  18. I love this idea of connecting and sharing. I have a facebook community where I'd love anyone to add links to ideas related to reading with children. Feel free to post anything to the wall or start a discussion.
You can find it by searching in the facebook search box. Just type in We Teach Children to Read. I think you'll find it. I posted a link to this page today.
