Emily had fun playing in the backyward...here she is getting silly string off of herself!

Emily enjoyed watching the Memorial Day Parade in our town. I was excited that she got to she my High School Marching Band. She was excited to see her friend's Daddy marching with the Fire Fighters!

Emily enjoyed playing with her ladybug. She made it go all around the house. She gave me a description of everything it was doing!

We visited the Children's Museum of the East End. Emily was able to intereact with all of the different exhibits.

This week we in TOTSchool Emily had a lot off life experiences!!

We are looking forward to getting back into our regular routine next week :0)

Field Trip Friday!!

Our Trip to the Children's Museum of the East End

Today was a really rainy day so I told Emily I would take her to the Long Island Children's Museum, where we have a membership, however it turns out the museum was closed today for a special event. So instead we decided to take a little road trip in the rain to check out the Children's Museum of the East End. It was a much longer ride than I expected, about an hour and a half...I'm sure the rain didn't help, but it was a lot of fun!!

The museum has lots of hands on exhibits that deal with life and wildlife on the East End of Long Island. In addition there is a drop in art exhibit where Emily was able to paint with water colors and use clay and a get Active Exhibit, structures to climb and play on.

Memorial Day Blondie Brownies

I LOVE to bake and Emily loves to watch, however she had been able to help me more and more. For Memorial Day I had to make some brownies and Emily decided she was going to make them too. She was such a great little helper.

I measured out the ingredients and Emily dumped them into the mixing bowl.

Emily's favorite part was using the hand blender to mix everything together. She was able to hold it in one hand and the bowl in the other and mix the batter together!

To make our Blondie Brownies patriotic we added red and blue M&M's and white chocolate chip morsels.

Chocolate Chip Bars

(Blondie Brownies)

Ingredients:
1 ½ cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ cups of flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350° and grease 9 x 13 pan
2. Beat eggs – add sugar then add oil and vanilla.
3. Add the rest of the dry ingredients.
4. Bake for 20-25 minutes

These are always a big hit whenever I make them!

I am so excited to be participating in ABC & 123's Prize Picnic!

A Mommy's Adventures is all about my adventures with Emily my almost 2 and a half year old daughter. Our adventures include lots of crafts and "projects" as Emily calls them. With lots of other activities like trips to museums or just having fun in the yard thrown in. I came up with the title when "A Mommy's Adventures with Emily" was already taken. I figured I would just shorten it and I guess that works because we are going to be adding a new little one to all of our adventures in July!!

I most enjoy doing art projects with Emily. I love watching how she gets so excited about the things she is creating and the look of joy when she gets to show Daddy what she made when he comes home from work! I also love going on family outings. It is so much fun to share what I do with Emily all day with my husband. I love seeing how much she enjoys playing with him and how amazing he is with her.

This summer I think our family's most exciting plans include having our new baby. I can't wait to see how Emily is with her new brother or sister! We will also be going to the park, playing in the pool and just having fun :0)

Muffin Tin Monday...

...Moved to Wednesday!

We were very busy this Monday and missed having our Muffin Tin Monday meal. Today was a rainy day and when I was making lunch I decided to surprise Emily with our Muffin Tin. The second she saw me opening the cabinet she yelled out with such excitement "MUFFIN TIN" I am so amazed with how much she absolutely loves eating out of a Muffin Tin!!!

Anyway, this week there was no theme for Muffin Tin Monday so we just had a tasty lunch filled with some of Emily's favorites.

Our week in TOTSchool!
Emily is 27 months old

Emily enjoyed making a Circle Collage.

Emily practiced cutting out stickers. I put stickers on a strip of paper and had her cut in between them.

We made a Shape Sun Print. When I asked her how the paper changed she said "The sun came down and went on paper and made it" it was so cute she used hand motions to show the sun coming down and everything.

Emily really enjoyed her What's Next Puzzle
and asked to play with them almost every day this week.

Emily asked me to take a picture of her with all the plants we got for our vegetable garden. She was so excited to pick out the different vegetables and herbs with Mommy and Grandma!

Red White and Blue Tape Flag

Emily's Tape Flag

Emily enjoyed making this Patriotic Flag from white and red electrical tape and some star stickers. I knew that I wanted to make a flag with Emily, however I didn't want her to get board with gluing on lots of pieces. A while ago I was at Home Depot with my husband and saw this package of multi-colored electrical tape, which I had to have! We have not used it since I got it and as I was looking through our supplies I saw the package and new that Emily would love sticking the tape on the paper to make the flag since she absolutely LOVES anything with stickers and tape is a giant sticker!

I cut lengths of the tape and put them on the edge of the table so she could just pull them off. We talked about patterns and how the colors were going to change. She did a great job picking which color would go next.

After she finished with the tape I gave Emily some white paint and a q-tip so she could do the "stars"

Emily was so excited to show everyone her Flag that she made!!

Unplugged Project ~ Sun

Shape Sun Prints

This weeks Unplugged Project was "Sun" so Emily and I with a lot of help from Mr. Sun made Shape Sun Prints.

To start I gave Emily a piece of construction paper and some of the wooden shapes from our Melissa and Doug Beginner Pattern Blocks Puzzles.

After Emily arranged the shapes on the construction paper we left them outside so Mr. Sun could go to work.

We went back inside to have lunch and after about an hour...

...Emily and I came out to see what happened.

When we took the shapes off the color of the paper had faded, but the paper under the shapes was nice and bright! Emily kept pointing to the paper and saying "Look it made it!"

I was surprised with what a great reaction she had...she was so excited that the paper changed. I am planning on trying this again using her magnetic letters!!
